Child Rapist who Raped 8 Year Old – Will Have Record Wiped Clean
David Broome – Sequatchie Co, Tennessee
61-year-old David Broome A constable in Sequatchie County charged in 2013 with raping an 8-year-old girl has pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor charge of child abuse.
David Broome has been out on bail from the time of his arrest back in 2013 and just entered into his plea deal.
By entering into the this delightful plea deal, the former constable will be granted a judicial diversion, which translates to:
David Broome will be on probation for 11 months and 29 days, if he behaves himself and does not run into legal trouble during that time frame, his arrest will be expunged from his record.
And the cherry on the top?
According to the court clerk’s office David Broome will not, yes HE WILL NOT, be placed on the state of Tennessee’s sex offender registry.
The sex abuse/rape occured from December, 2012 – January, 2013 at a home on Signal Mountain.
The excuse prosecutors utilized for even allowing such an atrocity?
They did not want to put the unidentified girl through the torment of a trial, which is an even worse travisity of justice.
What this translates to is that the victim will be put on trial just the same as the accused and that my friends is not right at all.
This is why a lot of victims freak out and break.
The law says that the accused have the right to face his/her accuser, however by default if enough evidence exists for the accused to face charges and then a criminal trial, the charges are not legally filed by the victim but the city, county or state.
Therefore, technically, victims should never be forced to testify if you are looking at the situation in a logical sort of way.
It is absolutely unacceptable that any child rapist is allowed to enter into any type of plea deal.
Our laws, the way we address crime and how little victims are protected all need to change.
We have a broken system that doesn’t work to protect, it has become nothing more than lucrative business of transactions that, turn into cash.
In short, the judicial system in this country needs to get its shit together in a whole picture way, a way that will serve our changed society, the society of today, not yesterday when most of these laws and rules about how trials are to be handled.
