Calling Out Bars?

Calling Out Bars?

Colorado – Grizzly Rose

Today whilst checking my Facebook, I noted an article by local Fox news affiliate, KDVR. The article which sparked it’s own sort of outrage depicted Denver’s very own Grizzly Rose bar. Apparently someone was at the venue this past weekend and the snitch shot video of patrons not wearing masks or social distancing. The video was blurry at best, in fact from what I saw of it, most people were wearing masks, while others were not.

This opened up a flood of comments from pissed off readers and viewers who thought overwhelmingly that the news story was in fact underwhelming and in poor taste. Truly it did not depict the other side of the situation and only focused on one brief yet fleeting moment in time. Readers were upset the news station had the audacity to waste its time with such a story, others were upset because they felt it really was not that big of a deal, at least not breaking news, worthy. Some argued that those in attendance will now be going home, to work or school to spread the virus, while others said that the attendees are selfish cruel human beings.

The truth is, this is a virus, I had it and it sucked but it is a virus. We cannot escape the virus, it’s like the cold or the flu, it is going to spread no matter what and that is a simple, gut wrenching fact.

So what do we do to help stop the spread? Wear masks and socially distance when out in public, unless you are at a venue drinking and partying. The truth is, most of the attendees seen not socially distancing and not wearing a mask at the venue do in fact wear masks and socially distance the majority of the time so, they are doing their part to stop the spread in most situations. Masks don’t stop the virus, they simply help slow the spread, so if I have it and I am wearing a mask, I am less likely to pass it to someone else. Most spreaders of the virus don’t even know that they have it.

Second, we should stop focusing on controlling businesses, the general public and the like and focus on vaccinations and protecting the vulnerable and the elderly, meaning those groups should be staying home and not going out into public.

But if anyone thinks the Grizzly Rose story is breaking news, you are kidding yourself. In fact, here in Colorado some establishments stop taking credit card after a certain time of night and accept cash only just to stay open, serve alcohol and still make the money needed to keep staff employed and pay those bills that have not been affected by the pandemic. Do you think those establishments give a flying fuck if anyone is masking up or socially distancing? Hardly.

At least the Grizzly Rose tried to get patriots to comply.

I’ve said this before, I am not for shutting businesses down, limited capacity and preventing people from living life normally at all. All any of that does is kill an economy and does very, very little so as to prevent the spread of a virus. I go back to isolate the vulnerable, the sick and the elderly and leave everyone else alone.

Granted the vulnerable and elderly are not going to like that take but that population is considerably less than the healthy working population is, the Government would have had a much easier time taking care of them than the massive amounts of people who lost jobs because the United States freaked the fuck out and started shutting everything down.

Whatsmore, if you step into any grocery or big box store, half the people in those places cannot manage to wear a mask correctly and they are usually packed with shoppers, daily.

The reason we failed with controlling the spread is because we attempted to control human beings from simply being able to live life. The government did not pay us to sit at home so people got restless and also lost trust because as states started to reopen, many learned that they had no job to return to, no assistance came to cover the bills that never took a break, businesses were forced to close no just temporarily but forever because no help came for them.

Businesses should have been encouraged to allow workers to work from home, restaurants and bars should have encouraged takeout, outdoor seating long before governments allowed for it, but nothing should have been shut down, ever.

I hope the Grizzly Rose does not get into trouble, from what I saw those patrons needed the night out to blow off both stress and steam. We should be looking back at our own government and asking them where the help is so that these establishments can pay those bills and keep staff employed, not punishing them for living the American Fucking Dream.
