Women in Colorado Face Increased worry about being drugged?

Is Anyone Listening?

Right before Covid made its sweep worldwide; I was out one evening at a local bar here in Denver having drinks with friends. I had half a beer and two or three sips of a whisky neat as I had just started my night out with friends. I woke up in a hospital, I had been drugged whilst out with my friends.

Someone noticed something off and I was rushed by ambulance to the hospital. The hospital tested me for drugs and found the very drugs used to make the date rape drug on the cheap coursing through my veins. I had not taken any medications or anything so that was rather bit of a shock.

Now a local Denver media outlet has been running stories left and right about women who are coming forward with stories similar to my own, they go out, have a couple of drinks then things get fuzzy and they end up not recalling the evening.

What’s more is that their are reports of a woman who had been traveling through Denver International Airport an, those reports indicate that she had been drugged whilst at the bar waiting for her flight and she has a confirmed case of being drugged. When she arrived to her destination however, the individuals who drugged her, who happened to be on the same bloody flight, walked away free as little birds. For now at least, they flew on a flight so it’s only a matter of time before the FBI figures out just who those individuals were.

What makes this woman’s story quite concerning is that another woman was involved with drugging her along with a group of men and they walked away even though this woman had reported her suspicions to the flight crew. The flight crew did protect the woman but the fact that police were not waiting for them when the flight landed is astonishing to say the least.

The sheer number of women coming out after the local media ran this story truly saddens me. At the time it happened to me, I really did not think that it was a common thing in this city, now I am learning that isn’t quite the case. I know that the police care, what I don’t believe many understand is, this is a crime that you quite literally have to catch someone in the act of committing or all will be lost.

Bars rarely have the proper security around and many lack a proper camera/video system so as to catch much of anything other than staff theft in the establishment. But the fact that it is now coming to light just how often this is happening is absolutely alarming.

Last year at some point I ran a story about the new and improved ways individuals are drugging unsuspecting victims in other countries and my worry at the time was when will this start to happen here in the US? We haven’t seen much of it yet however, what I did learn whilst investigating that story is that the victims were not always being drugged for sexual reasons. Some were for robbery, some were because someone just wanted to see if they could get away with it. Truly scary though because you do not know just how someone might react to any drug they are not used to having in ones system.

In my own case I will say that I found the Denver Police Department to be very attentive and quite serious about finding out who drugged me. Currently however, the overwhelming reports are that women are not being tested in suspected cases of being drugged in fact women are reporting that law enforcement and the local hospitals are not taking these reports seriously.

That is terrifying, if no one is listening then it’s no wonder the issue is growing, and more and more women are coming forward.

Women have a right to be able to go out with friends and not have to worry about being drugged, raped, robbed, assaulted and the like. So what is law enforcements plan here because beyond the reports from the local media, the public has yet to hear anything about what law enforcement intends to start to do when a woman reports that she suspects she has been drugged whilst out.
