Reddit Roasts America

Foreigners Share Their Unfiltered Thoughts About the State of America

Cristal M Clark

I suppose we should have expected something like this, it is 2020 and Donald Trump has turned the White House into a cesspool of White Trash the last 4 years, pretty much filling the swamp with well, white trash. Today on Reddit non-American’s shared their unfiltered opinions about the state of America as she stands as of today, and it’s actually really more true than most are willing to admit.

Look folks it’s no secret Trump and his administration failed really eloquently when it came to Coronavirus, it is also no secret that he is the by far biggest offender of spreading misinformation, I mean today he announced that Portland is on fire every day due to the protests. Portland is not on fire, are the protests out of hand? Yes.

Donald Trump also turns into a whiny little bitch when he is losing, he blames, pouts, lies, spreads misinformation trying to play into his base – in fact, he is running an add about defunding the police, with video playing in the background depicting violent protests that have all happened during his watch.

He also stirs the pot with regards to racism, he supports gun toting thugs showing up to a protest and shooting at protesters, killing people. Trump supports gun nuts who believe in and support vigilantism and those who want to become vigilantes.

It’s like he is fighting Biden, defunding the police and the police all at the same bloody time.

Tf? Hello Donald, you cannot have your cake and eat it too here. Trump will publicly praise these individuals and condemn protesters? Trump supports vigilantism, the act of violent, murderous behavior and yet can’t seem to educate himself enough to garner a shred of understanding for BLM?

No, rioting and looting are not protesting, I agree with that and it is still a fact that the groups looting and rioting are agitators who stand apart from peaceful protesters. These are in fact individuals who want to see this country go to war with each other. Yet at the same time, Trump will support a vigilante over the police he also claims to support? I’m so confused.

A simple question on Reddit today did really open a lot of eyes. The viral Reddit thread invited non-Americans on the internet to weigh in, asking them: “What is your genuine reaction to what’s going on in America right now?”

And here are more than just a few highlights with regards to how the rest of the world is seeing America right now:

“It’s like watching Britney Spears go through that “shaved-head phase.”

“America amirite” replaced talking about the weather. Everyone is dumbfounded by what’s going on.”

“For me, the craziest (and sadly, most predicable) thing was how there were Americans protesting face mask mandates. You’d think the most patriotic thing they could’ve done for their fellow countrymen would be to protect them, but nah.”

“On the other hand it’s sad that we know more about US politics than local politics. People protest for BLM in Berlin, and nobody talks about other things going on elsewhere.”

“The US always appeared like an older, stronger brother – now it feels like this brother started using meth.”

That one stings right?

“Actually, this is bit kind of encapsulates us perfectly. Don’t look too closely or you’ll see all the flaws. And the people who live here pretend they don’t exist.”

“You’re so busy flinging shit at each other, you can’t see the mess you’ve made.”

“European That lived in india and now in the states.. when I look back at American coworkers being afraid to have to travel to our india office and this it’s all so bad there I chuckle.. the streets here have always been dirtier than what I saw in Bangalore.. ppl here just don’t learn anything about any other country and think every other country has so much less.. I mean I was asked how I coped living in india for 2 years with no toilets in the house.. like wtf my apartment in Bangalore was nicer than the one I have in San Francisco.. every country has good and bad sides to it but the arrogance in the US that every other country only has bad sides to them and only the US is free (so many more points here) that will always be mind boggling to me.”

“I knew there were lots of idiots, but the sheer quantity is mind-blowing. And how so many Americans just can’t handle a view that’s different to their own, or at least allow others to have a different view, is crazy.”

“I’m from Syria. Everybody knew some shit like this is gonna happen.”

“I live in the asshole of the world Bosnia,Balkan. And it seems to me America just hit puberty.”

“Still on their first constitution.”

“Living in another shithole country (Republic of Moldova, Eastern Europe) I can confirm that what happens in USA right now is what we are experiencing here for more than 30 years. Even before that, even before USSR, we were quite a polarized country (I can’t even call us a nation).”

Guess we have Trump to thank for making the “Shithole Country” thing take off, it’s quite a hit.

“Kinda surprised cuz you guys actually have money can live well have acess to culture and just dont even bother to , not really surprised cuz my country is even worst so the fact that people go out of their way to do dumb shit is something im very aware.”

“For me, I feel like nothing in America can surprise me now, I’m just like, ‘Of course that’s happening now.’ I feel sorry for the sane people over there.”

“Being in the UK right now kind of feels like being in a little boat that has broken down and everyone’s too busy being mad at the captain to fix anything. But then you look to the left and there’s a big cruise ship burning as it sinks with people fighting on every deck, and the captain’s throwing gasoline on everything, and you feel a little bit better about the shitty boat you’re in.”

“Canadian here. Like others have said, it’s really all beyond comprehension. To see a once-great nation plunged into chaos and insanity, being ripped apart by a disease that is going unopposed, and is even supported by the country’s own president and many citizens. My country is going well, all things considered, but I’m a bit scared that it’s going to make its way to us. We’re protected by a thin border and border patrol really. The American tidal wave could be disastrous to us if we let them through. We need to keep the borders closed for non-commercial travel.”

“Honestly, it’s borderline beyond comprehension. It constantly feels a little more like a poorly written soap opera than real life.”

“I can’t believe how Americans can politicize EVERYTHING?! Wearing masks, postal service…and before these newer topics, universal healthcare, free (or at least vastly cheaper) university, higher taxation, etc. Those things are a reality in most developed countries, but in America it seems like you can just scream ‘socialism’ and people are against everything. From my German point of view, the two-party system and electoral votes are seriously fucked up, and even the moderate Democrats are pretty right-wing.”

“I don’t wanna talk about Trump, but wow, the anti-maskers piss me off. Like, dude, wear a fucking mask. How hard can it be?”

“This us also true in America. No one knows anything about their local politics. So many if these systemic issue would be better addressed if people focused their energy on their local communities.”

“It honestly just looks like a reality show. It’s really how you’d expect a country like america to be.”

It does not get any better the more you read and honestly, none of it is a lie or in any way, shape or form inaccurate.

Both sides are to blame, both are stirring the pot, Trump is supporting a murderous teen who shot protesters, killing two and he is stirring the pot by painting the shooter as a victim? It isn’t getting any better, it in fact stands to get worse. This country very well could find herself at war by the new year. This young man not only set out to shoot people, he waltzed into a protest carrying a loaded weapon illegally, this young man had clear intent to kill all in the name of Donald J Trump.

That isn’t just the only infraction here, we have adults having meltdowns over wearing a fucking mask. These people will literally inhale a bucket of KFC, wash it down with mashed potatoes and gravy without taking a single, solitary breath, and can’t wear a mask to run into the grocery store? And Trump supports that behavior. He managed to find some whack job doctor to go against the grain and agree with anything and everything Donald J Trump wants in an effort to sweep the truth under the rug while more American lives are lost? Are you kidding? I am utterly surprised the guy isn’t urging us to drink shots of bleach.

The point is, Russia got precisely what she wanted here, manipulate, lie, throw a baboon into the oval office, rip America apart. And Russia is still meddling,  you see on social media all the time, in particular Facebook, so much misinformation is being shared through memes, fake news, groups that are not legitimate, it’s everywhere.

I understand why the rest of the world views us the way they do, try be an American and watching your entire world fall apart all at the hands of some pretty piss poor leadership who could could give a shit less about even his supporters who are also dying of Covid, worse yet being charged criminally for pulling guns on people, calling the police on Blacks who are bird watching or strolling down the street, wrecking stores, hitting people, spitting on people, coughing on people, pulling guns on people all because they were asked to wear a mask into an establishment, the most patriotic thing you can do. Trump doesn’t like the all too real honesty of his own White House medical team with regards to Covid-19, so he brings some lackluster wannabe who just wants his name in a history book or two to go along with what Trump wants here because I’m sure somewhere Donald has a PHD right?

On the other side, rioting and looting that isn’t helping, that too is making matters worse and that lends power to Trump’s cause, his base, his misinformation campaign. This is America and people shouldn’t fear living here, Blacks should not have to fear being stopped by a cop for any reason. Our president should be the loudest voice of all in support of Black lives, yet he prefers to stir the racial pot.

And all of this is what Putin wanted.

Congrats Putin.

Media Industry Rocked By Layoffs

The Advertising Revenue Struggle is Real & it’s Hitting The Media

By: Cristal M Clark

Some major media outlets are looking at cutting staff in the coming weeks. The number has been reported as about 1,000 new cuts looming.

layoffs-crimeshop.jpeg

Gannett, BuzzFeed and the HuffPost all made announcements this week with regards to having to cut back on staff.

buzzfeed-crimeshop

Wednesday: BuzzFeed announces that it would lay off 15% of its workforce.

media layoff-verizon-gannett-yahoo-crimeshop

While Verizon announced it would cut 7% or approximately 800 job from its media division. Those brands include HuffPost, AOL and Yahoo News, and then Gannett slashed dozens of jobs at newspapers across the country.

Some have dubbed this the “Trump Curse.” according to posts on Reddit

The reality is that these cuts are tied to advertising dollars, not Donald Trump.

Media companies have been having a hard time competing with the likes of tech giants when it comes to advertising revenue or clicks if you will.

It’s hard to compete with the likes of Facebook and Google for advertising dollars.

While also at the same time, media companies have also faced a significant drop in referrals from the likes of tech giants such as Facebook and Twitter.

Print media has been on the decline for even longer because users are moving to more digital platforms.

While the likes of BuzzFeed and HuffPost will more than likely survive this setback, print media may have already lost so much ground in terms of advertising revenue, it is unlikely that that part of the media industry will ever be able to gain it back and will eventually vanish.

Russia Successful at Dividing America?

russia-fake-social-media-CrimeShop.jpg

Russia – Serves up The Perfect Election Weapon

I continue to see these headlines with regards to Russia dividing Americans through fake social media accounts.

us-election-russia-hack-crimeshop

This morning CNN went on and on about the social media account that was found on both Twitter and Facebook under the name of “Blacktivist” which CNN dubbed a fake “black” activist account.

Okay fair enough however, when using words to describes things such as “black” or “white” you are by default stirring that social tension pot. Why not simply say something along the lines of “We found this activist site that the Russian’s created so as to cause even more racial tension and divide with regards to law enforcement here in america.”

See how much more classy that sounds?

While I don’t doubt that Russia did create that particular account, what caused the problem is still the problem. The media describes the fake account as a “black” activist account.

It’s a fake activist account. End of story. Viewers could clearly see what the accounts were when CNN posted images of the accounts posts.

america-the-divided-crimeshop

We were already a nation that was divided though and CNN should probably check its facts before skirting them and making it sound as if Russia really made the racial divide here in america worse.

It was already a boiling pot that was going to boil over on it’s own at any moment.

We already had racial tensions brewing with even more tensions brewing where law enforcement was concerned.

russia-kremlin-crimeshop

All Russia did was capitalize on our nation’s problems in order to gain more knowledge about us and where our heads were.

And by problems, it was all that, we all advertised, whether it was the mainstream media or individuals on social media posting things, we all advertised precisely what Russia exposed and capitalized on during the election.

russia-tampers-with-us-election-crimeshop

I also keep hearing this, particularly on CNN, “how did they know who to target?”

This morning was another spit out my coffee or choke laughing moment. A reporter on CNN asked a guest something to the effect of, “How did they know who to target, was it perhaps one of those calls placed to you where you were asked who they could market something like this to?”

CNN, the sky did not fall here, do you guys even read or watch the news at all? Do you even know what you are reporting on, on a daily basis or do you block that from your fragile egos, I mean minds at the end of the day and forget about it?

social-media-policing-crimeshop

What’s more, do you go onto social media at all?

Does CNN or any other media outlet actually pay attention to things other than themselves?

It is not rocket it science here.

mainstream_media_crimeshop.jpg

Russia knew who to target and what parts of the country in large part no thanks to mainstream media, second to that by actually looking at what people post from around this country on social media sites, including Reddit where anyone can read all of the forums without having to create an actual account and friend or follow someone.

Social Media Logotype Background

I wrote about this two nights ago, Russia knew who to target because here in america, we american’s expose our own secrets to everyone through social media, the mainstream media reports on speculation and opinion as if they were fact and they ask people really personal information and/or learn that really personal information and expose it.

Really CNN, how do you think they figured out who to target. I’ve never heard a more ridiculous question being asked over and over again, in my life.

Nothing in the news is really news these days, so while CNN said over and over again this morning too, “you can’t get your news from social media”, the last time I checked, we couldn’t get our news from CNN either.

I heard over 45 minutes of pretty much speculation this morning, the guests to CNN? CNN was asking hypothetical questions and interjecting their own opinions, and nothing really got answered, what I did not hear a lot of was actual factual news aside from Puerto Rico, yet still the CNN anchors filled those moments with speculative questions that tend to go unanswered which leaves viewers to speculate further and then rumors start…

Russia didn’t make shit up here, they simply exposed the worst of each of us and utilized that to their advantage.

All of the fake ad’s, the fake news, the activist accounts, they were all based off of actual facts, things that were already happening here in america, things that people were already talking about, speculating about and in some cases spreading rumors as fact about.

Russia was able to figure out, which was not a secret CNN, nor was it a secret, that american’s were already divided, they used that division among us in order to sway the election.

But was that really the only goal?

Not by a long shot.

Russia was able to expose america truly expose our every weakness from the inside out, to the world.

Modern Keyboard With Colored Social Network Buttons.

People post and share everything across multiple social media accounts, we overshare information, we discuss openly our true feelings on forums where we never have to meet the other people we are chatting with. You never know who is on the other end.

mainstream-media-crimeshop

The media has overplayed the fact that we have all of this racial division, police shooting unarmed young individuals and beating them and the media were the one’s that drilled into our heads the very idea of the wording “Unarmed, young black man.” the media also overplayed the drug epidemics that are sweeping our nation, doctors prescribing opiods like skittles, impoverished parts of our own country that we ignore while at the same time looking down our noses at for instance impoverished nations such as North Korea, the cost of living in some housing markets is so high that people have to share studio apartments with multiple people, where is big brother helping on that one? Oh wait, they are more concerned with access to Americans private email, cell phones and private data, access to social media accounts…go see Russia because they were able to obtain that, am I right? Health care in this nation is a complete and utter joke, our politicians take advantage of the system far more than any citizen, the rich get away with murder while the poor suffer the consequences 3x’s over for a simple shoplifting, you get the point, as the list could go on for days.

Thanks mainstream media, I was paying attention…but I wasn’t the only one or so it would appear. The media in this country tends to turn the news into something that it was never intended to be, entertainment. Everything is a huge, dramatic story that plays out for days on end.

We were an open book and the media played a much bigger role in that than they desire to admit, however along with that, each of us who are on social media, forums of any kind and the like bare some of that blame as well because we too overexposed our true feelings, our problems in this nation, and how we felt about those problems. Speculation, rumor and fact, we let it all out and really did kid ourselves into thinking that no one was paying attention, or at the least, that no one would ever think to use it against us.

And, if you were to push, dig and try to learn more, you might learn that the election was not the only goal here.

Our intelligence agencies should at the very least know that. Russia is far from finished here.

Russia-fake-social-media-crimeShop

Russia ladies and gentlemen, really just used what was going on here in a truly remarkable way and bitch slapped us with it, and hard.

Russia created and deployed the most unexpected weapon that has ever been created and with expert precision, they used it against us, even though we were one mass of multiple moving targets.

They didn’t kill a single soul in the process. They didn’t have to.

Vladimir Putin

It was pure genius.

The other night I said that Russia couldn’t have done it any better, and that is hands down fact.

Reddit – Up Next in The Russian Election Probe

Reddit_crimeshop

Social Media and the Russian Election Investigation

As we all know, Twitter has had to meet with the Senate Intelligence Committee with regards to the huge Russian influence in the 2016 Presidential Election, now Facebook is in the hot seat and looking forward and onward, it appears that the investigation is leaning towards Reddit next.

russian-election-investigation-crimeshop.jpg

And just where is this intel coming from? Well a little bird who happens to be a representative of Sen. Mark Warner, the committee’s top ranking Democrat.

What is a surprise to me is that Reddit was not first on the list.

Reddit is not shy about who or what they are and they are for sure no strangers to controversy by any means, whatsoever.

Reddit is after all one of the most popular if not most controversial websites one would peruse for meme’s (I find all of my favorite coffee meme’s on Reddit), but it’s also where viral stories tend to start.

Anonymous users are free to post and share quite a bit although Reddit does have rules, it’s still widely used to spread misinformation.

What’s more is that users take to forums to discuss those feelings, ideas and share input about what is going on in today’s government, which sometimes leads to misinformation being taken as actual fact.

Reddit however has made an honest effort to scale back on the misinformation as well as hate groups on the site which is actually commendable.

In February I believe it was, Reddit actually shut down a channel that was dedicated to a white supremacist group because of repeated violations of the terms of Reddit’s content policy.

Yet, it still doesn’t matter because hate groups tend to rise up and post where they can on the site still.

social_media_legislation-crimeshop

And that is the very problem with all of social media, since it’s free to signup and post content where do the social media giants draw the line?

social-media-policing-crimeshop.jpg

Furthermore why should they be held accountable?

It is after all the end users choice to believe whatever he or she really wants to believe.

While I quite agree that hate speech and hate groups have no business on the sites spreading hate, misinformation and the like, at the end of the day, we cannot and should not expect these social media giants to police everything because the sites are free for you and I to use.

It’s all about you, I, my brother, my dad, the end users making a choice to read and believe in whatever.

Social Media Logotype Background

I still see hundreds of fake news stories, ad’s and the like on Twitter and Facebook (don’t even get me started on gab),  almost every single day.

At some point, the end user or in this case the end readers have to be held just as accountable for buying into the fake news, the misinformation, the fake ad’s, and everything else.

It makes me just a little sick to my stomach truth be known to see that as a result of all of the Russian meddling through social media, fake news stories, etc, that we are now looking at potential legislation.

Imposing such legislation is like telling these social media outlets, “You are responsible for the American voters who made the choice to believe in the fake news, the fake ads…”

And quite frankly that does not sit well with me at all.

The reason I feel so strongly about this?

I’ll share a secret with you here, I have had some of the worst, I mean worst relationships in my life, most of which left me as part of a person for a very long time.

I blamed my choice to remain in those relationships on anyone and everyone including everything that I could.

I never wanted to take accountability for staying in those relationships, let alone getting into them in the first place.

All of that changed when I was invited to look at a couple of cold cases, I learned that I was better at working with the dead (part of the reason I write a lot about politics) than I was at being part of interpersonal relationships.

So now, try being a man hitting on me, I have actually made chasing men away a rather unique hobby.

I am happier being single because now my only weakness is coffee.

The point behind that story, is that it’s a choice and blame, we all make choices and the only people that we can hold accountable for that, is ourselves.

We cannot blame the social media giants for what happened here, each reader could have done his or her own homework at any time, they simply made the choice not to, and asking social media giants to do that, well it creates a police state, one in which the US Government approves what I am allowed to read, what information I am allowed to see and so on.

It is not a good situation at all because it is opening doors I do not believe the american people, if they really understood it all, would all that happy with.
