Social Media Used to Track Troops  – Get Soldiers to Disobey Orders

socialmedia11_crimeshop

Using Social Media Websites as a Weapon

By: Cristal M Clark

This new research is not really too surprising to me, it does however lend credit to one thing I talk about a lot and that is with just a little information about someone, that individual can be swayed, coerced, pushed and prodded to do things that they might not normally do, for instance, a soldier who suddenly just disobeys a direct order.

All of the right information in the wrong hands can be dangerous.

NATO9-crimeshop

Researchers from NATO’s Strategic Communications Center of Excellence recently conducted an experiment, they with virtually very little cash and whole lot of social media were able to easily identify roughly 150 soldiers, because of that, they were able to locate multiple battalions, actually track troop movements, and convince service members to leave their posts and engage in other “undesirable behavior.”

Which really is not that difficult with just a little information gained using social media with regards to the subject. Foreign States can and do use social media in an effort to identify and target NATO forces, but also, to manipulate those NATO forces.

social-media99_crimeshop

This is quite frankly scary for any soldier or troop serving in any military anywhere in the world because quite a few service men and women worldwide use social media when deployed to keep in touch with loved one’s when they can’t utilize a cell phone.

socialmedia88_crimeshop

Likewise, people like posting things like pictures of their wedding, children, wishing a happy birthday to a loved one or happy anniversary to a wife or husband, celebrating a fellow troop member or mourning a fellow troop members death. Family members post on social media about service members as well. It is just one big ball of thread if you will.

And with the right information, in the wrong hands, the reality is, more and more people can be persuaded to do things or act on things that they normally would not when presented with a free pass, or the perfect opportunity or manipulated in such a way that they fear not doing what they are told to do in certain situations.

People are sharing secrets, they are more easily manipulated and a lot easier to con especially when faced with some type of threat all thanks to the use of social media.

According to researcher Nora Biteniece; “The researchers used Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and other popular social media sites to find valuable information, particularly exploitable information, like a serviceman having a wife and also being on dating apps.”

US Army Col. Liam Collins wrote in Army Magazine last summer; “The Russians are adept at identifying Ukrainian positions by their electrometric signatures, in one tactic, soldiers receive texts telling them that they are ‘surrounded and abandoned.’ Minutes later, their families receive a text stating, ‘Your son is killed in action,’ which often prompts a call or text to the soldiers. Minutes later, soldiers receive another message telling them to ‘retreat and live,’ followed by an artillery strike to the location where a large group of cellphones was detected.”

In 2017, The Wall Street Journal reported that the Russians were hacking the cellphones of NATO soldiers to “gain operational information, gauge troop strength and to intimidate soldiers.”

As you can imagine, that caused some panic, so naturally out of fear Estonian troops were being forced by their superior officers to jump in the lake to enforce the strict “no smartphones” policy.

social-media9-crimeshop.jpg

Years ago, I worked with someone from the FBI on educating people about identity theft and this was back in the early 2000’s before it was really a thing, we both knew we were sitting on a bomb because of the way society was changing and using technology more and more. His golden rule was do not reveal too much personal information about yourself in the digital world, for instance social media and that my friends was just as social media was getting started.

Even I have been guilty of sharing too much personal information on social media, I think we all have once or twice. In the last year though, I have not really updated any personal information other than to repost some really old pictures on Facebook from before I lost someone close to me, and even more honest, I rarely if ever go onto Facebook these days because Facebook collects and does not protect as recent news has shown, any of our personal information.

-On-Social-Media_crimeshop

Think about this if you will, if NATO troops can be fooled so too can an average person who is utilizing social media on dating sites, signed up for a newsletter, even youtube, It’s not all ones car loan company who is selling our information, we are basically giving it away for free these days.

Vladimir Putin Issues Dire Warning

Putin, Wants World Dominance

By: Cristal M Clark

I continue to see this debate happening in the media with regards to whether we in the US are in fact in a new Cold War with Russia.

I have insisted yes and we have been for some time, our leadership in America just failed to either notice or acknowledge it, preferring to turn a blind eye to it, but pretending away a problem does not resolve that problem, it just leaves it for someone else to deal with.

Vladimir Putin is now vowing not empty threatening but vowing to develop hypersonic missiles that will travel at more than 5x times the speed of sound and will be “invincible.”

vladimir-putin-russian-media-crimeshop

Defense Minister Sergei K Shoigu informed military officers that Russia would, by the end of next year, develop a ground-based version of an air-launched hypersonic missile that has already been developed, and also create a land version of the Kalibr, an existing sea-launched cruise missile.

That’s comforting, not even a week after everyone walks away from the INF here we go with the threats of demolishing the entire world and oh just going about killing everyone.

Nuclear-Threat-Russia-Crimeshop

The good news is that Vladimir does not want to go over budget so that might help to dampen his ability to develop much save for a few drones.

Vladimir has ordered Defense Minister Sergei K. Shoigu to stay within the limits of existing spending plans for 2019 and beyond.

According to sources; “We must not and will not let ourselves be drawn into an expensive arms race.”

So he’s cheap.

mig_31-CrimeShop.jpg

But for further proof that we are in a cold war, Russia has announced it will deploy 2 squadrons of MiG interceptors to fly patrols over the North Pole (most of the arctic belongs to Russia anyway), which is meant as a show of force and it was during the last cold war, routine.

A little history of the MiG interceptors:

The MiG-31 is one of the fastest supersonic interceptors that has ever made. The plane designed to catch and shoot down enemy aircraft over the vastness that was the Soviet Union with speeds up to Mach 2.83, or 2,171 miles per hour if you will. IIt was built to chase the SR-71 Blackbird strategic reconnaissance aircraft, B-52 and B-1B strategic bombers, and low-flying nuclear-tipped cruise missiles.

The MiG-31BM typically carries eight air-to-air missiles, including four R-33 or R-33S radar-guided missiles for long-range interception.

putin-flips-the-bird_Crimesop

Maybe Vladimir is tired of seeing more of Donald Trump in the news than himself or Russia is quite serious about letting America know they’ll be ready if we continue to push certain buttons throughout the world.

Trump Administration Says Goodbye INF Treaty

TrumpPutinINF-Crimeshop

Hello Nuclear Arms Race?

By: Cristal M Clark

In rather delightful news today, the Trump Administration has announced the United States departure from the nuclear missile treaty with none other than Russia.

Some are speculating this might be the start of a new and improved nuclear arms race. In fact, some reports are stating this move might “kick-start” a new nuclear arms race, which if I am not mistaken has already started, long before the US backed out of the INF today.

Mike-Pompeo-crimeshop.jpg

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said during this morning’s press conference that, “Russia has jeopardized United States security interests, and we can no longer be restricted by the treaty while Russia shamelessly violates it.”

inf treaty-crimeshop

Mike is not wrong either. Russia’s new nuclear-capable missile actually violates the 1987 INF that the country signed with the United States back in 1987.

Some would still argue that the US should have remained in the treaty and somehow attempted to talk Russia into behaving rather than misbehaving.

Putin-CrimeShop

Whenever someone does that with me, my first move is to misbehave personally so, I doubt very much that Russia, knowing what we know about Russian President Vladimir Putin and Moscow, will shape up and play nice when Trump or his administration demand them to do so.

The mistake that Trump made here however, was that he failed to discuss this move with Europe prior to announcing it and that has started a bit of a novella throughout the world.

Additionally, now that the US has left the treaty, Russia is pretty much out of the dog house and in the clear so as to not abide by it which is leaving some to worry about a potential war in the long run because, by simply leaving the treaty, we no longer have any leverage with Russia.

Then again Russia as well as other foreign countries were already building up their nuclear capabilities up while at the same time disregarding the treaty.

So why would the US even stay in it, no one else is playing nice in the sandbox after all.

In a rare move, I actually agree with Trump and his Administration on this one. The US simply cannot remain part of a treaty with others where we are the only ones who are actually abiding by that treaty.

Russia’s Most Brilliant Developers – Rotting in Jails.

Hypersonic Nuclear Missiles – Russia

Cristal M Clark

Russian_prison_CrimeShop

It would seem that in Russia, the reward for being one of the most brilliant developers in the world, is jail.

putin-hypersonic-missile-crimeshop

Last year, Vladimir Putin quite regularly bragged about his hypersonic nuclear weapons, his claim is that the intercontinental missiles are capable of flying 20 times faster than the speed of sound.

More importantly, Vladimir reminded us that no one in the entire world has the technology themselves to create the missiles and that no one can shoot them down, meaning that anti-missile systems would prove futile against Russia, should they decide to launch one hypersonic nuclear weapon.

Putin-hypersonic-missiles-Crimeshop

During meeting with top military officials recently, Vladimir spoke about a test launch of  what is called “Avangard,” which happens to be a mobile hypersonic missile system.

Vladimir described it as “a big success and victory,” and he then promising delivery of the new strategic missile system to the military in early 2019.

Russia Putin

Vladimir also very highly praised the developers of the missiles, then promptly jailed them.

Well at least some of them. A few of the most brilliant minds that were behind the Russian hypersonic research are behind bars, under investigation for treason and accused of leaking secrets to foreign colleagues and are now classified as enemies of the Motherland.

Where they remain just rotting away.

The reality is that, like it or not if we were to look at from a military or intelligence standpoint, this is just a very well thought out proactive, strategic move by the Russian Government.

Rather than risk a leak, one of the jailed researchers kidnapped or someone becoming what is commonly referred to as a double agent, and/or commit espionage this move is actually quite logical.

By default Russia just ensured that it’s technology is not going to fall into anyone else’s hands.

Ever.

crimeshop-espionage.jpg

While some may see this as inhumane, in certain jobs for any government entity worldwide, it is well known that the employee may never actually get to go home.

For Russia, this news really should not come as a surprise to anyone.

Putin Warns the U.S.

putin-2019-calendar-crimeshop

Leaving the INF Treaty Might Cause World War 3?

Cristal M Clark

Putin really knows how to Grinch up the holiday season, he sent a pretty clear warning to the US with regards to leaving the Nuclear Treaty.

shirtless-putin-hunting-crimeshop

The US and Russia have both been part of the treaty since 1987. The has managed to keep nuclear missiles out of Europe for 3 decades and required both countries to eliminate all their nuclear missiles with a rage of something like 500 to 5,500 kilometres.

inf-treaty-crimeshop.jpg

The treaty was signed and sealed by former Ronald Reagan and then Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev.

trump-flipped-orange-face-crimeshop

But now Trump and his administration are accusing Russia of violating the treaty by developing and deploying a brand new missile called the 9M729, which of course Russia denies and I would imagine we have very little to no actual proof of.

trump-administration-crimeshop

According to Trump:

“We’re not going to let them violate a nuclear agreement and go out and do weapons we are not allowed to. We’re the ones that have stayed in the agreement and we’ve honored the agreement but Russia has not unfortunately honored the agreement so we’re going to terminate the agreement. We’re going to pull out.”

Back in 2014 the US had accused Russia of breaching the treaty after developing and launching a cruise missile.

former-president-obama-crimeshop

According to reports, former President Barack Obama did not want to back out of the treaty as a result of pressure from European leaders that led to ideas pulling out then could very well start an arms race.

Because of the treaty The US and the Soviet Union destroyed 2,696 short, medium and intermediate-range missiles back in 91.

Back in October US ambassador to NATO Kay Bailey Hutchinson subtly warned Russia to stop the development of the new missile, which of course if true does break the INF treaty.

Russian foreign ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova responded to Kay’s warning by stating: “It seems that people who make such statements to do not realize the level of their responsibility and the danger of aggressive rhetoric.”

NATO is in agreement with the accusations raised by the US in that Russia just might be developing new nuclear missiles.

GOP National Convention kicks off in Cleveland

Truthfully, Trump seems to have these breakups with foreign leaders on a pretty regular basis, which is highly unusual for any US President to be warned time and time again by world leaders to knock his shit off and play the game like an actual politician.

Diplomatically.

Something that goes against Trump’s grain. Yet in Trump’s favor, maybe it is time to stop playing things from a diplomatic standpoint, maybe it is time to call other countries out for violations of such treaties like the INF.

Russia Putin

Vladimir Putin?

Well he is warning the US, pull out of the treaty and we may be looking at a entirely new set of issues.

I suppose this is what Russia gets for meddling in the elections. They thought they were the puppet master and could control Trump and his administration and now it would seem that is simply not the case, nor was it ever going to be.

China Preparing for Possible High-Profile Hacks?

China_hack_crimeshop

NSA Seems to Think So

Cristal M Clark

rob-joyce-nsa-crimeshop.jpeg

Rob Joyce an official at the NSA seems to think that China is getting ready for some possible high-profile hacks, at least that is what he is telling the Wall Street Journal.

china-hackers-breach-marriott_crimeshop

According to Rob, thus far China has focused it’s hacks on stealing trade secrets and spying which Rob could not be more wrong about by the way.

power-grid-cyber-attack-crimeshop

The suspicion is that China prepositioning itself to attack “critical infrastructure” such as energy, health care, finance and transportation.

cyber-attack-us-infrastructure-crimeshop.jpg

What makes this a rather curious situation for the NSA – as far as the US Government is concerned this is simply just speculation, they have no proof of this – at all.

China has always denied conducting any hacking attempts, and the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesman Geng Shuang said to the NYT that: “China firmly opposes all forms of cyberattack and cracks down on it in accordance with the law.”

cyber-attack-us-Crimeshop

China by the way, as recently reported, the preliminary investigation results into the Marriott/Starwood hacking incident suggests it was in fact part of a Chinese intelligence operation.

hacking-US-Government-crimeshop

In all honesty the NSA is not so far off the mark in it’s suspicion of China.

However, the NSA is wrong to think China is merely prepositioning itself. China as well as other countries are already in a position to attack our “critical Infrastructure.”

While US leadership was asleep at the wheel other nations have had years to “preposition” themselves for a major cyberattack on the US and they are in fact already in a position for a major cyber attack on the US “critical infrastructure.”

Come now, nobody really believes that all of these hacks and cyber attacks were done just to merely siphon trade secrets and just simply to spy do you?

Saudi Arabia Lobbied Trump During Campaign?

saudia-arabia-prince

Trump – Saudi Love Affair

You know you do have to hand it to Donald Trump for all of his bullshit, the guy is still sitting in the White House and instead of holding the title of “janitor” he is still the president of the United States.

crushing-dumbness-of-donald-trump-crimeshop

Nothing is off the table with Trump at the helm it seems, collusion, sleeping with a hooker, I mean, who wouldn’t right, but now it’s starting to come to light that not even bribing the president in order to get favors also fair game.

donald-trump-drunk-af-crimeshop

Why didn’t any of the rest of us think of this, we could have bribed him right out of the White House.

The WaPo released a report in reference to Saudi Arabia bribing Donald Trump using and this is absolutely disgusting, US War Veterans.

That is pretty below the belt in all honesty.

-saudi-arabia-crimeshop

According to the report the Saudi Arabian government funded a group of lobbyists who booked around an astonishing – 500 nights at the Trump International Hotel in Washington.

Those rooms, they were filled with unsuspecting U.S. veterans, in what is being described as an alleged scheme to send Saudi money into the Trump Organization, which began in late 2016.

The Story goes a lot like this:

“Saudi-funded lobbyists began offering free trips to D.C. to military veterans, under the guise of having them protest the Justice Against Sponsors of Terrorism Act (JASTA), a new law, backed by the families of Sept. 11 victims, [that] opened the door to costly litigation alleging that the Saudi government bore some blame for the attacks. (The veterans were told the law could cause other countries to retaliate, and might lead to vets being prosecuted overseas for actions their units had taken while at war.)”

Rumor has it however, that those who were sent to D.C. didn’t really protest much, they didn’t even know why in the hell they were going, which left one simple question, if no one was really protesting why were the veterans really being sent to Trump’s D.C. hotel?

donald-trump-bribed

The obvious and more than abundantly clear reason of course, to bribe one Donald J Trump, newly crowned President of the United States.

bribing-trump

Trump is clearly in pretty deep with things, yet, he still hasn’t fully understood the extent of favors he owes certain world leaders, those that got him to where he is, those who lined his pocketbook.

idiot-trump-crimeshop

The effort to buy America, that goes pretty deep worldwide, and more than just the few we have read about were in on that.

Including those that outwardly do take the hard-line with Trump and his administration.

Too inept to truly understand that he sold himself out while at same time, selling out the United States.

These leaders who bought him the US Presidency, should Trump not play well with them, will in fact ensure that he loses his coveted seat at the big kids table.

Head of MI6 – Warns Russia

alex-younger-mi6-crimeshop

ST ANDREWS, Scotland

The Head of Britain’s foreign intelligence service, Alex Younger, is about to send a clear warning to the Kremlin today in that Russia should not make the mistake of  underestimating the West.

FILE PHOTO: The MI6 Vauxhall Cross building raises the Rainbow Flag to mark its support for the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia in London

The warning follows a nerve agent attack on a retired double agent in England which in turn, stoked fears about Russian covert activity abroad.

sergei-skripal-russian-spy_crimeshop

The attack on Sergei Skripal, a former Russian military intelligence officer was in fact carried out by Russian agents, you would be pretty hard pressed to find anyone but those in the Kremlin who would argue that.

Yet, before everyone pounces on the back of Russia here, Sergi betrayed MI6 agents, US agents and many, many more, including those of his own homeland.

Basically the guy was all too willing to work with the highest bidder, his greed overtook his better judgement.

American and British Intelligence were both responsible for the deaths of scientists a few years back, so I hardly see the reasoning behind this casting of stones. Sergei was a dirtbag, he turned on his own when they wouldn’t pay him what he wanted so he sold them out to someone who was willing to pay more and he then turned on the hands the fed him all the way around making quite a full circle of betrayal and deceit.

This is the oldest story in the book of spies.

The most curious aspect of all of this is that Russia has been busy creating allies with the west’s enemies, if anyone has bothered to notice this, at all.
