US Leaders Prove Again How Out of Touch They Are

They Simply Do Not Understand Economics or Math in General

Cristal M Clark

Colorado learned right off that one of the provisions in the new stimulus package that was meant to help renters cover that monthly bill is not going to put a dent in the issue at hand. I would venture a guess that many other major cities are realizing the same.

Now that Congress is pushing for $2000 stimulus payments after not only a media and public outcry but Trump stuck his rather large arse in the deal people feel less hopeless. Honestly though, he should have been pushing for this rather than lying about election fraud, of which none exists except for the guy who wrote in a vote on behalf of his mother, his dead mother, for Trump.

Either way, at least he said something in the end.

If the $600 didn’t get your attention and tick you off, hold onto your hats folks because the rental assistance provision is so far out of touch with today’s reality you’re going to walk away demanding term limits, and political leaders who clearly understand the public they serve, know the states they serve, what the economic situation is.

So Colorado learned that we will get paid as much as Minnesota or Wisconsin from the HEROES Act rental assistance, but Colorado needs nearly twice as much to cover Coloradans’ rent because our rent costs twice to three times as much as it does in Minnesota or Winsconsin.

Under the Hero’s Act that means that our rent costs more than our share of the U.S. population.

Each state government will get a share of that money in proportion to its share of the U.S. population. Colorado, with 1.74% of the U.S. population, will get $383 million. State and local governments will then use it how they see fit. And it better not go to section 8 or any type of subsidised housing, period. This is for the working class that under any other circumstance would not qualify for section 8 or subsidised housing. Those individuals are already receiving subsidies.

A 5 year old could figure this out, if you don’t understand the rental costs nationwide and you decided to give rental assistance during a pandemic but, for instance  like with Colorado who has a grossly exaggerated rental cost and who gets the same rental assistance as a state with roughly the same population but with cheaper rent, you are unfit to serve in any capacity in public service or office. That says a lot about our so called leaders making all these decisions so as to help and to protect us doesn’t it? These people are unfit truly to be in office, so out of touch with those of us you claim to represent. I wonder in the last two decades just how many politicians have taken the time to understand the community or nation they serve right?

While this will not help Colorado renters much, it also shows that the sheer greed of developers and the real estate industries who have been out of control in this state since 2010. It also shows us just how many people do live paycheck to paycheck.

The cost of rent should never be more than what people make but again, that is a leadership issue, when city, municipal and state leaders want to attract the wealthy and affluent, you create a problem rather than solve one. Thanks to the pandemic that is illustrated perfectly for us. These leaders lure great companies to their cities and states by offering tax breaks and such, the companies rarely if ever keep their end of the bargain and cities don’t bother to check so things become out of balance, hence the rental rates you see in some cities. Colorado is not California nor is it New York, but our leadership thinks it wants to be, the people however feel vastly different because it hit our pocketbooks in not good ways.

New York is a fantastic example, they built all of these super luxurious and expensive apartments, townhomes and lofts hoping to attract the super wealthy and that failed now they are looking at turning some of that into “affordable housing,” and shelters for the homeless.

Now the nation down the road here might also be looking at another housing collapse. Luxury apartments are a waste of money quite frankly, the material that goes into them is not what you’d get if you were to buy a home. Sure it looks nice and fancy, but the reality is, developers will use the cheapest most realistic looking material that they can, like realistic looking tile that is just a fake wall covering, and sell it as luxury. Not to mention now that many have restaurants and bars on the lower level along with small retail which are closed during the pandemic, along with the gyms in them, it tells what a waste these are.

Here in Colorado from Longmont, Boulder, Broomfield, Westminster, Northglenn, Thornton, Arvada, Wheat Ridge, Lakewood, Denver, down to Englewood, Littleton, Parker, the DTC, Centennial, Castle Rock, and every city in between since 2010 what you see if you watch closely were due to the increased cost of rent and cost of living in general, the working class was left behind as wages stopped increasing so, they were starting to rent extra space out hoping to be able to save, which is still going on unchecked. People even rented couches out. Those that were in grossly overpriced apartments have renters park on streets and hike in just so cars would not be towed, if you were lucky to have a parking lot. In Denver, property management groups swept in and brought up Victorian homes that were already remodeled as apartments, slapped new paint all over, threw down new carpet and started charging 2-4 times more for rent but had no parking or amenities, but they had to compete with the luxury apartments so, renters were forced to take in roommates who are largely not on leases. All of that drove up the cost of purchasing a home and taxes which again led to rental situations that are more often than not, illegal in most major cities. City leaders everywhere should have prevented that – that out of touch with reality rental costs, it would have kept rental costs down and we’d not be looking at such a horrible rental crisis today. We took away the people’s ability to save, the working classes’ ability to save and by far, we are the largest home buying and renting population that any city, state or municipality has.

The sad truth is, that has been going on since 2010 and ignorance is not an excuse one can use to dismiss it and now of all times to have to face an even worse housing crisis in the face of a pandemic city leaders are being hit with the mistake they or those before them made with all of that greedy thinking without looking first. It’s like reading, you know learning so you are educated enough to make a decision that benefits the state, city or municipality you serve. Understand what people earn before you try to overrun your city with overpriced rental properties that are going to go under in the face of a worldwide crisis. But you know I guess here in the US it’s not live and learn I mean look at the state of our infrastructure. Highway systems are a complete joke, our electrical system is a joke, we have population growth in some parts of Denver that happened faster than cell towers could grow so in those areas most people have no cell service, yea no one was thinking of population growth realistically.

Point being is that you already fail as a leader the second you don’t take the time to truly understand how growth and your precious economy need to be hand in hand instead of overnight. IF you are not looking out for your constituents as that growth happens so as to ensure they can afford to continue to live in the city they built, your as a leader are not worth your weight in gold. Useless is what that kind of leader is.

Leaders more often than not only think of growth and wealth, the wealthy, they usually don’t take much time to consider the working class. You know the people who make the growth happen in cities, by being the middle working class and when things crash, it is because of that lack of thought, education and understanding. But that simple economics, something our leaders in the US have no concept of, whatsoever.

America Readies to Change The Mask of Politics

Saying Good Riddance to 2020

Cristal M Clark

We’ve all been through a lot this year, but perhaps what has stuck with every single American citizen more clearly has been the unequivitable massive failures of our politics and its politicians no matter which side you are on, they have continually failed to stand up, for the We The People, you know the ones each of you serve, the people you swore an oath to serve. Instead they stood up and served only themselves and those who have lined those political pockets financially.

As we slide into the last week of 2020, every American is asking “What a fucking nightmare right?”

Nations who once respected us have watched us come apart at the seams because of our lack of leadership, men and women who talk a good game but who are greedy and lack balls.

The pandemic showed us that we have a president who is a complete idiot, but who is mentally unfit to hold office, leaders everywhere who went for inaction, finger pointing and blame, then with no notice they sprung into an action that destroyed American Lives, businesses and they did not even think twice about it.  Our Economy is a wasteland and millions are on the verge of starvation, homelessness, they had no Christmas, don’t know how they are going to pay the bills that have not stopped coming in. Yet every politician in the United States- the White House, The Senate, Congress, Mayors, Governors, they all have incomes, healthcare and the ability to purchase food, you know pay for the human basics the very thing millions of American’s worked entire lives for, the things they lost because our Government and its leaders are incapable of leading, incapable of making the right choices, incapable of saving lives while at the same time, protecting the economy and its people who actually make that economy.

The inaction, the lies, where your distrust should rightfully be is with the disease and that is every single politician.

We witnessed Trump stir up distrust in science, downplay the pandemic, stir the racial tension pot and take illegal action so as to overturn the presidential election, he lost then kept losing with every effort to overturn it. He successfully divided this country right down the middle. Brought out racists and gun totting thugs who don’t give a fuck, they’ll shoot and then claim innocence or sheer suport for Trump as if that excuses everything.

We witnessed both the Senate and Congress fail to stop Trump, now because he is mad at every American who didn’t vote for him wants to strike down the next measly stimulus. He wanted more money for American’s but only asked for that as a last ditch effort to keep votes for the Republican party and himself, yet in the process he is fucking even those that did vote for him. Let’s be honest here, you can’t expect people to be able to have an income when you keep shutting things down and some businesses were forced to close for good while others cannot open at full capacity. No one took the time to think this through and it shows. $600 doesn’t even cover one months rent in most cities. American Citizens and businesses get screwed but $600 should just about cover it right?

Trump and his loyalists received healthcare no one else in the US receives when they all got Covid and they made a remarkable recovery while many American’s are still struggling with long term problems after having the virus and not having received the same health care or treatment as Trump, his goons and vile children received.

We watched the vaccine rolling out and both Democrats and Republicans get in front of front line workers and the elderly to get the vaccine. That is unforgivable, if not downright sickening, not one politician or political leader in this country deserves to be moved the front of the line because they have fucking failed to protect the citizens of this country at every single turn this year. Don’t make me remind everyone about the Kennedy Center garbage the last time a stimulus was being discussed. Every single one of them failed us, destroyed our economy, never once stood up and fought for us.

Instead they fought for themselves and those big dogs who are not hurting or destroyed, the ones who line their pockets, the people that actually do the fucking work. Cities are learning the hard way that as city managers fought for massive growth, in the end it’s turned out to be a huge failure because the rents skyrocketed to the point that people really do live paycheck to paycheck, incomes did not increase. So as evictions happen, luxury apartments will sit vacant for months, maybe even years to come.

So as we head into 2021, we are looking at a wasteland caused by our political leaders and for that, it is highly doubtful that either party will survive, the next election will not see a Trump but, will also be vastly different than we have ever seen before, terms limits are going to be pushed and I would imagine this go around it will be a successful push because American’s are quite frankly sick of these political leaders playing games with our lives.

The Supreme Court will also be changed, the courts work for us, not the politicians who put a judge on the bench, our political leaders should never have the opportunity to put a Supreme Court Judge on the Bench, ever.

While the United States Citizens were forced to watch our politicians destroy our nation and make it a wasteland, now over the course of the next four years, those same politicians are going to watch it’s citizens make changes that do away with this atrocious and obtuse behavior, the abuse of power that our politicians have enjoyed for decades, that is all going to change starting with the next four years.

You serve us, it’s never been the other way around. Your greed, your failures this year, that will never be forgotten nor forgiven and for that both parties are going to become a thing of the past as they should.

8 Minutes and 46 Seconds

George Floyd Did Not Die in Vain

Cristal M Clark

I don’t know how many of my readers have actually sat down and watched cell phone footage of the murder of George Floyd. I did watch it over the weekend and to be honest it has haunted me so deeply that I have been having trouble sleeping since then. I’ve studied my share of horrific murders and cold cases through the years and one moment during the murder of George Floyd affected me in a very profound way that I have yet to shake it.

It was George crying out for his mom as he lay dying and unable to breath. That cry brought me to tears, shaking me to the core, breaking both my heart and my soul. That cry was heard worldwide by moms, and unified in one stance together we stood and said enough is enough. In that moment we all unified and stood up as any mother would for George Floyd as if he were our own child.

We want Justice for George.

We demand Justice for George.

I’ve been to some of the protests, both peaceful and as the anarchy ensued during the night trying to help keep the peace, but no peace was to be had over the weekend. I do not condone looting, damaging property, violence, but I heard what people felt. Many of them are feeling many different pains if you listen.

But right now, the pain and suffering we need to address is the systemic racism here in the United States. Every single state in this country is standing unified together without the leader of the United States of American and we are demanding an end to the suffering and inequality of the African American’s who are citizens of our nation.

Our nation which we are part of together.

When my kids were little, they never knew racism, when I would watch them play with other little kids I noticed, just as I do with my grandchildren now, little kids, they don’t see race as they interact with other little kids. They are just happy, excited and delighted to meet new kids and to be able play with another little kid. They just see another little kid.

Racism is taught, hatred is taught.

It is time we stopped teaching children racism and hatred.

President George W Bush stepped forward and like a President helps heal his hurting nation, gave a beautiful speech the other day that encouraged peaceful protests, that encouraged us to call for change.

President Barack Obama yesterday, he did it again, like a President he stood to help lead a hurting nation, to heal and to demand change in constructive and peaceful ways. He urged us to be strong and to stand alongside the youth of this nation and to demand change.

I refer to both as President rather than Former US President to illustrate that they truly were and still are thought of leaders of this nation, something they both demonstrated with the thoughtful words of hope and inspiration they have delivered through this senseless tragedy.

Donald Trump, has made threats, hid in a bunker, rampaged on Twitter, called people weak, urged law enforcement to harm peaceful protesters and use a show of force to stop protests around the nation  and has yet to offer help, support, words of healing, promise for change, empathy and leadership here. The White House is currently being sealed off, barriers being put into place by a coward, racist Donald Trump and an administration living in fear of the people they are currently letting down.

I urge all American’s to remember these defining childish, pathetic behaviors and moments Donald Trump has shown in the face of a crisis when November rolls around. He may be great when it comes to business and economy, but he truly strives to simply drive our nation apart because he has no empathy whatsoever. That is just as inhumane as the killing of innocent people of color.

And we the people are driving for change, we are forcing that to happen. All 50 states in this nation are demanding change, every race in this country is standing as we the people without a leader and we are demanding change. We are succeeding! Finally we are making it happen.

Through the years I stood for change as blacks were killed at the hands of cops or a white men. I’ve written about it so many times in the past and here we are again. When the change doesn’t happen, I can’t help but feel like I have failed in some way to make it happen.

When I attended a couple of the protests I heard the very words that I have written in the past spoken and cried out from the mouths of our nation’s youth who are demanding we end systemic racism once and for all and I couldn’t help but feel this is a deeply painful time for our nation and the world watching this unfold but in those moments I stood proud of the youth in this nation for having the courage to stand up and rise about the systemic racism we continue to see.

We can no longer tolerate hate, we can no longer accept and allow injustice, we can no longer accept systemic racism. This is America and we must fight for equal justice for everyone in America, No more white justice, no more black justice, no rich justice, no more poor justice, one system for all of the peoples in America.

We must put an end to white privilege and inequality in our nation.

When the leadership in the Whitehouse fails us, we the people must rise up to that challenge and drive the need for change in non-violent ways ourselves. The proof of that is today, look around we are heard and supported through state and local governments nationwide, we are being heard and supported worldwide.

To the racists on social media dropping the word ni*g*r, sharing racially hateful messages, demanding white privilege, you are also being heard and the bad news is that people are quietly sharing your posts and words of hate towards blacks, hispanics and asians, support of the KKK, Neo Nazi’s, White Power, through private DM’s, people are sharing your hatred with the very people within your  own communities, some of you have businesses and I don’t believe that I need to explain what that can do to your business. What we are watching in the United States of America is that the minority groups are about to change, those that are racist and full of hate are going to become the minority sooner rather than later.

It’s we the people not we the white power, we the people are no longer going to tolerate racism, hatred, inequality and injustice towards a person of color and we must let our voices continue to be heard.

I cannot claim to know and understand the pain and suffering of people of color, but I am a mom and when I heard George Floyd cry out for his mom, it brought me to my knees. And although I cannot quite put into words what hearing a grown man being murdered, crying for mom truly feels like, any mother who watched that video would tell you, it was gut wrenching, painful and you can’t help but to feel it hit you hard in your heart and in your soul. It leaves you unable to walk away and not fight for change.

I have spent years fighting injustice through our judicial systems, fighting for the rights of victims and fighting a system that rewards the rich and the white.

George Floyd’s death will not be in vain, he will be the first person I think of anytime I prepare to address a Judge or prosecutor, his cry for his mom will not be forgotten, I will think of George Floyd and that cry will make my arguments about inequality and injustice even more powerful.

We must change, we must abolish systemic racism and inequality like our nation once abolished slavery.

Always remember 8 minutes and 46 seconds a human being suffered, struggling to breath and died an agonizing brutal death crying out for his mom all  because he was black and that never should have happened.

Trump administrations showing its ineptitude about recreational pot

recreational-pot-crimeshop

Sean Spicer – Donald Trump

This administration’s desire to roll back recreational cannabis is absolutely absurd to me.

It clearly shows the ineptitude at which this administration is operating, the lack of general knowledge and understanding let alone the lack of education they have about cannabis is mind boggling.

I understand that Trump has friends in big Pharma and he’d like to line his own pockets, however allow for me to point out that legal cannabis is where the money is. The numbers do in fact, add up in state revenues for those states that have legalized.

My sneaking suspicion is that Trump and his administration are receiving pressure from big pharma which makes the most logical sense in this case (unless these guys are really that inept about cannabis), to come down hard on the industry because, big pharma has pretty much been denied access to it since day 1.

Which is the way it should be, keep big pharma out of the industry all together.

As far as the idea or notion that cannabis is a gateway drug, yes it is a gateway drug…to the fridge and junk food, to a better mental frame of mind for those that struggle with issues that relate to debilitating mental illnesses and the like.

sean-spicer-crimeshop

Contrary to what Sean Spicer may have said, cannabis is not a gateway to opioids and what’s more is that never has that ever been proven.

It’s said a lot but not one individual has taken the time to sit down and actually conduct a study in an effort to prove that cannabis is a gateway drug to other drugs, period.

Hands down, it is rare to run across someone who is both high and violent, the truth is, about the only times that ever happens is when the user has mixed his/her high with another substance, prescription meds for depression or other mood disorders and/or alcohol or the user has a sever enough mental disorder that he or she is a danger to themselves or others.

Cannabis is being utilized currently for those that suffer from alcoholism as a way to kick that habit and it is working for those that are trying it.

What’s more is that cannabis is being utilized for those who suffer from opioid addiction as well, to help kick that habit, and it appears to work for those that have tried it.

The most promising use of cannabis comes from those that suffer from mental disorders such as anxiety, depression, PTSD, etc. I have personally seen it help individuals cope with and manage such disorders.

The users are not getting high either, they get the right stuff and use it in moderation and it enables them to lead a healthy, productive life like a normal individual.

The benefit is that they are not dealing with addiction issues when they use cannabis to help cope with some mental disorders or for pain management.

Unlike other drugs, namely prescription medications, cannabis is really not that habit forming to be honest, for most they can take it or leave it without the nasty side effects one would have when let’s say they stop taking the mood-altering medications that so many doctors prescribe these days.

It is clear that this administration has failed and pretty hard to actually do it’s homework and they are just jumping into the fire.

I say let them burn, because the outcome of trying to roll back recreational cannabis will not play into this administration’s favor. Not at all.
